STEAM TRAPS FOR ALL YOUR NEEDS
A Critical Function
Steam traps are often overlooked and underappreciated. However, when a critical steam trap is not working properly it quickly moves to the top of your to-do list. Removing condensate and air from your system is essential, because returning condensate to the boiler house maximizes use of energy. Federal Corporation understands the importance of sizing and selecting the best type (F&T, Inverted Bucket, etc.) of steam trap for your application. Unfortunately, there is not one single steam trap that works for every application. This is why Federal Corporation maintains a healthy inventory of various types and sizes. By answering just a few questions we can select the ideal steam trap for your individual applications.
Steam Trap
A steam trap is a device used to discharge condensates and non-condensable gases with a negligible consumption or loss of live steam; or quite simply, a drain location. To select the best type of steam trap you must first know the application the steam trap is being utilized on.
Steam Trap Type
For example, draining a main steam header utilizing a drip leg or draining a plate and frame heat exchanger with modulating steam: multiple types of traps would work for either of the former applications. However, Federal Corporation will be able to provide you with the BEST type for your application. After you have determined what type of trap you need next you must choose what size trap is necessary. This is as simple as knowing the differential pressure (inlet pressure – outlet pressure differential pressure), connection size and type, and condensate load.
