Our History

In 1918, founder Louis Loeffler Sr. and his brother established Federal Steam Specialties Company in Oklahoma City, at the invitation of local architects and contractors. The company thrived during the booming 1920s, contributing to the state’s growth. Despite the challenges of the Great Depression in the 1930s, Federal endured. Louis Loeffler passed away in 1941.

In the 1940s, founder Louis Loeffler Sr.'s sons, Louis and Norman, kept the company running during wartime by diversifying offerings. After the war, they expanded the product range, customer base, and staff. Throughout the 1950s to 1970s, they laid the foundation for the company’s growth and success.

History - Building

In the 1980s, Alan Loeffler, representing the third generation, led the company’s expansion by opening a Tulsa office and adding control products for commercial and industrial clients. In the early 2000s, the company refined its focus on hydronics, steam, and combustion equipment and controls through strategic planning.

In 2008, Dan Loeffler, the 4th generation leader, brought a strong legal background and, during his 10 years, strengthened the company’s financial, accounting, and personnel operations. He introduced online catalog and ordering capabilities and established Federal Services LLC, advancing industrial combustion control systems in the gas and industrial sectors. Dan’s legacy continues after his passing in 2018.
